Excellent Michelin 1 star restaurant in the country side near Sienna. Owned by the Antinori Wine family. The restaurant can also conduct a wine tour and explain Italian wines. The monestry building next to the restaurant serves as a wine cellar for Antinori, very very old castle. The upper part still houses some monks. Food and wine at this place is excellent, so do the service. Highly recommended for wine fans......
We stumbled upon this restaurant while E-Biking around Florence. The area of Passignano was recommended to us by the people we rented the bikes from. When we arrived into town, we noticed the restaurant and thought, there’s no chance a Michelin Star restaurant would take a reservation just hours before dinner; but I walked in right as they were closing for lunch in my sweaty biking gear, really feeling out of place. As they greeted me with a smile, I mentioned it’s our 1 year anniversary and we were curious if they could squeeze in a reservation for dinner. The initial reaction was just what I expected; but they managed to set us up for later that night.
Now my wife and I always seem to get the short end of the stick when it comes to seating, and she even joked walking in that since we had a late reservation, we would probably be sitting near the bathrooms. We were greeted by our same friend from earlier that day; he smiled and welcomed us back in and as he showed us in, he sat us at the ‘chef’s table’ in the middle of the entire restaurant. I was flabbergasted, and my wife couldn’t believe it. I still can’t get over the glow of her smile as she looked around the room in disbelief as it was clear, all the attention was on her.
The food was fantastic, the wine recommendations from their extensive collection were spot on, and the staff was very coordinated with their presentation. It was clear they all have an attention to detail and since of urgency to serve. I cannot thank them enough for the magical night they provided us.
We had a wonderful dinner here. The food, service and atmosphere were on point. For a one star Michelin, it was very unpretentious and focused on the food and wine.
Passed this place and decided to try. Love the decor and very friendly, warm, and service oriented staff. Started with a couple of appetizers that was really good. Decided to go with recommendations and was not disappointed. Each staff has a role in the restaurant so good & bad. But overall, really enjoyed the dinner and awesome experience. They have a wine shop at th3 front on the restaurant. Great selection...
I had a reservation for dinner here but we came earlier to have some glasses of wine from their wine shop while we enjoyed ourselves outdoors with the views of the castle. Beautiful venue.
The dinner was amazing, I went with the experience and the sommelier paired it with the Italian wine tasting experience too. Everything on the menu was amazing, from the stuffed crackers to the veal to the pigeon to the dessert.
And then also having the pleasure to try the Amaro that is made in the abbey. That was the icing on top. Worth the whole experience. Food is great and service was also top notch.
In the end I ended up purchasing bottles of the wine we had because it definitely left an impression.
Would definitely come back here again.
If you are in Florence, do make the trip. It is worth it. You will discover wines you never tasted. Plus great food and fantastic service
Indeed a Michelin starred restaurant. Food & wine were outstanding. EVOO tasting a must try. Superb service!
Very nice restaurant in an amazing setting. The kitchen has access to a fantastic aromatic garden nearby. The food is very good with some wow moments. The dishes are not overly complicated keeping the identity of the place and avoiding unnecessary complications. The service was a nice surprise as it was discrete but also contributing strongly to the whole experience.
